Isaac Maimon was born in Israel in 1951, and showed artistic talent at an early age. After attending Tel Aviv's Avni Institute of fine art, He traveled to Paris from 1978 to 1980, where he was influenced by the cafe culture of Montparnasse, Saint Michel, and the Latin Quarter. It is this uniquely French atmosphere that Maimon has portrayed in his works since this time.
After returning to Israel in 1980, Maimon taught at the School of Visual Arts in Beer-Sheba, and later at the Kaye Art Academy. He was also a professor of art at the Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheba. He currently devotes all of his time to his artwork.
