Fine Art Sculpture

Selected Artist: BARBARA CHEN

Barbara Chen began sculpting at age 27 with no formal art training. Having earned a degree in economics from Stanford University, she pursued a career in business and teaching before deciding in 1990 to devote her undivided energy and attention to sculpting.

Barbara works in both bronze and stone, depicting people and animals in a style that ranges from realistic to highly stylized. "Sculpture is not ephemeral as, say music--gone when the last bar is played. Yet viewing and touching sculptures brings me the same sort of euphoria I feel when listening to music. I sculpt music for the eyes."
