VB Newsroom -- Capitol Visitor Center

Valley Bronze is fabricating two spiral staircases, railings, grilles and other ornamental metalwork for the Capitol Visitor Center. The CVC is the largest project in the Capitol’s 212-year history. At nearly 580,000 square feet, it is approximately three quarters the size of the Capitol itself. The entire facility is located underground on the east side of the Capitol. When it is completed later this year, the Visitor Center will include an exhibition gallery, orientation theaters, a 600-seat cafeteria, gift shops, and restrooms all within a secure public environment.

July 2007 -- Spiral stairs take shape at the Capitol Visitor Center

Valley Bronze workers fit and secure the metal railing for a spiral staircase in the Senate Expansion Space. A skylight illuminates the atrium. The stairs were fabricated at the foundry in Joseph and shipped to the construction site. These views were taken in June.

July 2006 -- Oregon's Senior Senator Ron Wyden first on stairs

When he visited the foundry in Joseph July 2, 2006, Oregon's senior senator Ron Wyden became the first member of the U.S. Congress to stand on one of the spiral staircases being built by Valley Bronze for the new United States Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. On the stairs with Senator Ron Wyden are Valley Bronze president Christine Jackman and chief executive officer David Jackman.
